Ingredients: Alcohol Denat., Fragrance/Parfum, Water/Aqua/Eau, Coumarin, Eugenol, Linalool, Benzyl Benzoate, Limonene.
First spray is spice-forward, not loud. Cardamom and pink pepper open with a quiet warmth — the kind that makes people lean in instead of step back. Within two minutes the oud arrives, but it's the clean, modern Western oud, not the barnyard-Middle-Eastern interpretation. Smooth, almost honey-edged, never sharp.
By minute fifteen the heart is fully open: oud + sandalwood + a faint rosewood lift, with vetiver giving it backbone. This is the sweet spot. By hour three the dry-down takes over: tonka bean and amber wrapped around vanilla, all sitting under that oud accord that just won't quit. Eight to nine hours on skin. Longer on a wool jacket. This is a fragrance for people who don't want to announce themselves.
When to wear it
- Year-round, especially autumn & winter
- Business meetings, client dinners, evening dates
- When you want to project understated competence
- Hot summer days (oud gets heavy)
- Casual gym/sports settings
- If you've never tried oud and aren't sure
One spray. Always one. Ultimatum is designed for proximity sillage, not projection — it should be the fragrance someone notices when they shake your hand or sit next to you, not when you walk into a room. Apply to chest under a shirt for the most refined effect.
Honest comparison: Ultimatum vs Tom Ford Oud Wood
The clean-oud + sandalwood + tonka DNA. Same understated, expensive-feeling personality. Same close-to-skin sillage profile.
The original is denser in the heart — Tom Ford uses a higher concentration of oud absolute. Ultimatum uses a balanced oud accord that reads slightly cleaner and softer. Some people prefer ours for daily wear; others miss the original's heaviness.
Increased the cardamom in the opening by about 20% for that initial warm-spice impact. Used Mysore-style sandalwood (sustainable substitute) for the heart, which is what gives Ultimatum its creamy backbone. Brought in rosewood as a structural support.
If you've worn Tom Ford Oud Wood for years — the original is still the gold standard. If you've sampled it and want the same experience without the price, or if the original ever felt slightly too dense — Ultimatum is what you're looking for.
From the lab
“ Oud is the most-faked, worst-faked note in the dupe industry. Most so-called "oud" in budget fragrances is just a band-aid accord. We use a real oud-and-rosewood blend, and that's the whole reason Ultimatum smells expensive. Compare it side-by-side with anything under fifty dollars and you'll know within ten seconds. — Founder’s Note
Frequently asked
QWill it smell exactly like Tom Ford Oud Wood?
About 92% match. The opening cardamom-spice and the heart oud-sandalwood are very close. The base is essentially identical. The main difference is density — Ultimatum is slightly more transparent in the heart, which we and most customers consider a feature, not a bug.
QHow long does it last?
8–9 hours on skin, often longer. Oud and tonka are slow-evaporating molecules; this is a fragrance designed for all-day wear.
QIs the oud strong/animalic?
Modern Western-style oud, not Middle Eastern. Smooth, slightly sweet, with no barnyard note. If you've sampled real Middle Eastern oud and found it too challenging — Ultimatum will be in a different category. If you've enjoyed Tom Ford Oud Wood, Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Satin Mood, or Mancera Aoud Lemon Mint — you'll be at home here.
QDoes it work as a unisex fragrance?
Yes. We mark it Men/Unisex because the spice-and-wood profile reads slightly masculine, but on female skin the rosewood and vanilla come forward more, which softens the whole composition. About 25% of our Ultimatum customers are women.
