First spray is airy, floral, slightly fizzy — neroli and pink pepper, bright but never citrus-sharp. Within two minutes the orange blossom takes over and this is where Brave in Love starts to set its own atmosphere: not loud, not aggressive, just unmistakably present. Like walking into a room and noticing the lighting changed.

By minute ten the heart is in full bloom — orange blossom + jasmine + honeysuckle layered together with a creamy iris-and-rose underbody. By hour two the gourmand base does its job: marshmallow, vanilla, soft caramel with just enough labdanum to keep it from feeling like dessert. Seven to eight hours on skin. The marshmallow note in the dry-down is the hook — it's what people will lean in to identify.

When to wear it

Best for
  • Year-round, especially spring & autumn
  • Romantic dinners, weddings, anniversaries
  • When you want to feel soft and present
Skip when
  • Heavy industrial environments
  • If you genuinely don't like orange blossom
  • Mid-summer humidity (gets cloying)
Pro tip

This fragrance loves layering. Spray on bare skin, then dress. The orange blossom blooms in the warm zone between fabric and skin, creating that distinctive close-aura sillage. One spray on the inner wrist for the day, two for the night.

Honest comparison: Brave in Love vs Kilian Love, Don't Be Shy

Both

The orange blossom + marshmallow + vanilla DNA. Same intimate, close-to-skin sillage that Kilian's gourmand line is known for. Same emotional address: warm, romantic, slightly playful.

Where they differ

The original projects slightly louder and feels a touch more decadent on the open — Kilian uses heavier orange blossom absolutes. Brave in Love is a bit more transparent in the first hour but matches longevity by hour eight.

What we did

Used a Tunisian neroli for the top instead of the heavier orange-blossom absolute; brought in honeysuckle to add a slightly greener floral counterpoint. The marshmallow-caramel base is the part we matched closest — that's the fragrance's signature.

Bottom line

If you wear Love, Don't Be Shy as your absolute signature and know every nuance — the original is still the original. If you've sampled it, loved it, and balked at the price tag — Brave in Love is the most honest gourmand-floral dupe in this price range.

From the lab

Marshmallow as a fragrance note is difficult to perfect. Too sweet, and it turns into candy. Too airy, and it disappears. Our perfumer built the accord with a soft floral-cream nuance, clean musk, and real vanilla absolute, creating the texture of marshmallow — pillowy, slightly powdery, and smooth — without the cheap-sugar association. — Founder’s Note

Frequently asked

Q

Is it as sweet as Love, Don't Be Shy?

A

Slightly less sweet on the open — about 15% less sugar in the first hour. By the dry-down they're indistinguishable. If the original ever felt too sweet for you, Brave in Love will land in the right place. If you love the sugar peak — you'll find this one quieter.

Q

How long does it last?

A

7–8 hours on most skin, longer on hair and clothing. Orange blossom and marshmallow are both slow-evaporating molecules — Brave in Love is built for staying power.

Q

Is this too feminine for men?

A

It leans feminine, but men with a taste for gourmand fragrances (think Tobacco Vanille, Spicebomb Extreme territory) often find it works on them — just with the floral coming forward more than on female skin. We sell about 15% of bottles to men.

Q

Will it smell different on me than in the bottle?

A

Yes, like all fragrances. The marshmallow-caramel base reacts strongly to skin chemistry — drier skin pushes the orange blossom forward, oilier skin amplifies the gourmand base. Test on your own wrist for at least 30 minutes before judging.
